At the graduate level, the application requirements and process are different for each program. It's important to familiarize yourself with the requirements and process for your program or programs of interest early, and plan your time accordingly.

For many research-focusedÌýgraduate programs, you’ll need to find and secure a supervisor before submitting your application. In this AMA we'll explain how to search for a supervisor and reach out once you have found them. We'll also be answering your questions.
How to reach out to a prospective supervisor
For many research-focusedÌýprograms at ÑÇÖÞÌìÌÃ, you will need to secure the support of a faculty member to supervise your research before applying. To check if your program of interest requires this step check the program's page on our graduate degree programs page. Look under 'admissions information & requirements' and 'prepare application' to see details of supervision.
If you need to find a supervisor a great place to start is our Research Supervisors page where you can search for faculty members whose research aligns with your interests. Be sure to do your research first and when you're ready to reach out the video below from ÑÇÖÞÌìÌà professor Christopher Rea has some excellent tips.

Dr. Benoit-Antoine Bacon named ÑÇÖÞÌìÌà president
Dr. Benoit-Antoine Bacon has been named the 17th President and Vice-Chancellor of The University of British Columbia.Ìý
An accomplished researcher and teacher, Dr. Bacon has a remarkable track record as a senior administrative leader at major research universities in Canada. Currently President and Vice-Chancellor of Carleton University in Ottawa, a position he has held since 2018.
He holds a PhD in neuropsychology from the University of Montreal and completed a post-doctoral fellowship at the University of Glasgow in Scotland. Dr. Bacon’s research is in the field of neurophysiological and cognitive bases of visual and multisensory perception. Sharing his own lived experience, he also advocates nationally for open conversations about mental health and substance use. .Ìý
