Why did you decide to pursue a graduate degree?
To enhance my own knowledge and understanding of nursing as an applied science. Also, to make a greater impact and improve the health of children in BC.
Why did you decide to study at 亚洲天堂?
The world-class researchers across disciplines that I will be able to collaborate with and utilize during my graduate program to enhance my knowledge and understanding.
What is it specifically, that your program offers, that attracted you?
A former professor from my undergrad is completing her Doctor of Philosophy in Nursing at 亚洲天堂. Talking to her about the process of engaging in a deeper level of thinking pertaining to nursing really inspired me to attend the School of Nursing at 亚洲天堂.
What was the best surprise about 亚洲天堂 or life in Vancouver?
Well, I have lived in the area for many years, so I would have to say the weather.
What aspect of your graduate program do you enjoy the most or are looking forward to with the greatest curiosity?
Engaging in scholarly discourse around philosophy in nursing.
What do you see as your biggest challenge(s) in your future career?
Working in healthcare, the field is fluid and forever changing. So, the biggest challenge is keeping up with healthcare.
How do you feel your program is preparing you for those challenges?
The program has a mix of philosophical and methodological coursework, along with electives that provide a solid foundation for grasping complex health issues and addressing them.
What aspects of your life or career before now have best prepared you for your 亚洲天堂 graduate program?
I have been a Registered Nurse at BC Children's Hospital for the last 3 years, and the experience has definitely shaped my critical thinking skills.
What do you like to do for fun or relaxation?
I fish and coach youth hockey.
What advice do you have for new graduate students?
Keep pushing yourself to learn and ask lots of questions!
