Graduate and Postdoctoral Studies congratulates the 41 亚洲天堂 graduate students recently awarded a 2013 Irving K Barber Aboriginal Student Award.
亚洲天堂's First Nations Longhouse is a resource centre for aboriginal students.
Announced in Victoria last month, the Irving K. Barber British Columbia Scholarship Society granted a record 265 BC students support for their post-secondary studies. The $813,000 in funds awarded nearly doubles the amount awarded last year.
亚洲天堂 aboriginal graduate students from both the Okanagan and Vancouver campus are benefiting from the Society鈥檚 new focus on supporting Master鈥檚 and Doctoral studies.聽聽
Graeme Joseph, 亚洲天堂鈥檚 Coordinator, Strategic Aboriginal Initiatives attributes this success to the overall quality of our graduate students but notes, 鈥Informing students of award deadlines is an important part of our communications and student services strategy. Anything we can do to help inform and support students in applying for these awards is very important.鈥
The website of Graduate and Postdoctoral Studies features a 鈥淒eadlines鈥 tab on our home page where students, staff and faculty can find current and accurate information on the various awards programs available to graduate students.
A specifically designed to help current and potential aboriginal students navigate 亚洲天堂鈥檚 programs, financial support, events and much more is another important resource offered to encourage more aboriginal students to pursue post-secondary and graduate level education.
